Transport of Wind Farm Components.

One of our flagship services is the transportation of wind farm components for the construction of wind farms throughout Poland, as well as in Germany and other countries across Europe. International Professional Driver’s Day!

On May 12, 2023, we celebrate International Professional Driver’s Day! This is a very important holiday for us because without THEM, our industry wouldn’t be able to exist. Few people realize that working as a driver is not just about transporting goods to their destination.

The work of a driver also involves:

  • Long working hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Drivers must adhere to transportation schedules, arrive on time, and ensure they have the appropriate hours of work and rest.
  • Covering long distances, both domestically and internationally, often alone in the cab of a truck, which they often refer to as their second home.
  • Working according to a schedule means working on time, often dealing with obstacles on the road such as traffic jams, roadblocks, or road inspections, which only increase unnecessary stress.
  • Responsibility for road safety, as well as the safety of the cargo or goods being transported. Drivers must be familiar with a multitude of regulations that vary significantly from country to country and properly secure the load to ensure its safe arrival at the destination.
  • Communication – daily contact with dispatchers, road services, and clients must be smooth to be able to react immediately to any logistical issues during transport.
  • Mechanical and technical skills – they often have to deal with breakdowns on the road on their own. It is also physically demanding work as they often assist in loading and unloading goods.
  • In addition to all of this, they must have an immense level of stress resistance and a strong mentality, as they spend many hours, sometimes weeks, on long solo trips.

At this moment, we would like to extend our warmest wishes to ALL drivers and thank you for your contribution and dedication to the development of the transportation industry.

You perform tough and wonderful work! Thank you!

Everything you need to know before ordering transport.

We have a large and specialized fleet of heavy-duty and crane vehicles that can meet your transportation needs for almost any cargo. We handle all logistical, forwarding, and warehousing processes, ensuring your satisfaction with our services.

Below, we present the information you need to provide us for a transport quote:

Firstly, we would like to know what type of transport you are planning. So, it doesn’t matter where and how you want to transport your cargo; we can tailor our offer to your needs.

Secondly, we will need information about what you want to transport, including its exact dimensions and weight. Cargoes are classified into various types, such as bulk goods, liquid goods, cubic goods, dangerous goods, or oversized goods. Anyone who has come across our company’s offer, even accidentally, has surely noticed that our flagship service is oversize transport. However, not everyone knows what over-normative transport actually is and to whom this service is addressed. This is all the more true in view of the fact that every day, in every country, on every continent, thousands of different loads are transported using various means of transport. However, not everything can be described as over-normative loads. This is why we have decided to explain what we actually specialise in.

In the simplest terms, oversize transport is necessary wherever indivisible loads of unusually large dimensions or extremely heavy weight need to be transported. Formally, the issue of non-normative transport is regulated by the Act of 20 June 1997. – Road Traffic Law, which states that non-normative carriages are those carried out by a vehicle or a combination of vehicles whose dimensions or total weight are greater than the permissible standards specified in the aforementioned law. In practice, this means that if the total weight of a combination exceeds 42 tonnes or its dimensions are greater than 16.5 metres in length, 4 metres in height and 2.5 metres in width, then we are dealing with an oversize transport. This is still not much compared to our capabilities. At OL-TRANS, thanks to our extensive fleet of vehicles and the many years of experience of our qualified specialists, we can transport loads weighing up to 700 tonnes, up to 100 metres long, 15 metres wide and 10 metres high!

What loads are so bulky and at the same time exceed the permitted standards? These include wind turbines, bridge spans and other elements of road infrastructure, as well as construction, industrial and agricultural machinery and many other loads that do not qualify for standard transport. Our task is to load and transport them efficiently while maintaining order, efficiency and road safety. Therefore, we take care not only of the load itself, but also of complying with formal requirements, optimising costs, preparing the right equipment, properly marking the vehicles, planning and checking the route and determining the method of piloting non-normative vehicles.

Every order involving the transport of oversize loads requires an individual approach and solutions adapted to the current conditions. Our aim is therefore to provide a comprehensive service, from the preparation of the necessary documents and planning of the routes, to the safe transport of the goods and their unloading at the destination. At the same time, our customers can always count on professional support and advice at every stage of the order.

Every detail matters when carrying out non-normative transport. One sharp bend, a small hill or a bridge on the route may prove to be an insurmountable obstacle. That is why it is worth betting on cooperation with professionals, who know how to avoid problems and how to efficiently carry out even the most demanding orders. TSL professionals such as OL-TRANS.

One of the most important events in the TSL industry is behind us – the Breakbulk 2022 trade fair, which took place in Rotterdam! We had the opportunity once again to present Ol-Trans’ offer and make new business contacts. The three days spent at the fair in the Netherlands were a time for us to have intensive talks, exchange experiences and participate in workshops and lectures, all in an excellent, extremely friendly atmosphere.

We are delighted that, as a company specialising in oversize transport, as well as crane services, general transport services and freight forwarding, we can promote our business, hand in hand with leading TSL companies from Europe and the world. Participation in events such as the Breakbulk Fair allows us to gather the knowledge necessary to continuously improve our services, implement innovations and expand our offer in order to respond to our customers’ needs in the best possible way. In addition, we gain the unique opportunity to establish cooperation with other transport and forwarding companies, thanks to which it is possible to ensure comprehensive implementation of even the most demanding and unusual orders in the field of over-normative and oversize transport.

We would like to thank everyone who visited us at the Breakbulk Fair, the organisers of this unique event, as well as the Ol-Trans employees who represented us first-class in Rotterdam. See you next year – at the next edition of the Breakbulk Fair!

When we set up our family transport company in 1996, located in a small town near Bydgoszcz, we timidly dreamt of achieving a strong position in the non-normative and oversize transport sector. Today, thanks to hard work, commitment, perseverance, ambition, continuous investment and a well-thought-out strategy, we can proudly announce that we have achieved our goal. We have won the trust of our customers and business partners, and our services have been used by major companies from the national and global markets for many years. Our long-term efforts have paid off with membership in the International Road Transport Union and joining the elite group of wind power station transport companies in Europe. The activities of Ol-Trans have also been recognised by numerous organisations, which have awarded us valuable awards and certificates.

In 25 years of operation, we have grown from a small family company into a modern, dynamic enterprise. We have significantly expanded our own fleet and technical facilities, built up a team of qualified and experienced specialists, for whom work is a passion and a challenge, and opened three branches of our company in Poland and Germany. In order to meet our customers’ expectations, we have significantly expanded our range of services. Therefore, today, in addition to our flagship services such as the transport of normative and over-normative loads, the transport of wind power stations or the transport of oversize loads, we can offer, among other things, professional transport of dangerous loads, crane services as well as the rental of warehouse space. And all of this in a professionally planned and organised manner and comprehensively and safely implemented.

The 25th anniversary of Ol-Trans is an opportunity for us to summarise and verify the effects of our work, but also to set new goals and take on further challenges. The future of our company lies in further development, implementation of innovations and continuous improvement of the quality of our services. We believe that our many years of experience and knowledge of the market, together with our openness to new solutions, will allow us to continue to provide services at the highest level.

The annual ESTA Awards of Excellence gala is the most prestigious event for ESTA members, affiliated companies and all those who deal with over-normative transport in their daily work. That is why we are extremely happy to have been recognised with an award in the oversize transport category up to 120 t payload for our project to transport a 25-metre Christmas tree to the Vatican.

Let us recall that St Peter’s Square in the Vatican is decorated each year with a tree from a different country. In 2017, a magnificent spruce from the Romincka Forest was chosen for this role – 25 metres tall, with branches spanning up to 9 metres and weighing as much as 7 tonnes. Our role was to reliably secure, load and transport the carefully selected Christmas tree from Elk to the Vatican. In cooperation with Sekwoja Garden, we planned in detail and prepared this very specific cargo for safe transport. The spruce was placed on three specially constructed adjustable frames, which allowed us to safely place the tree on a 30-metre-long 5-axle low-loader semi-trailer. The entire project was secured with almost 2 kilometres of ropes, dozens of transport

straps, chains and a plastic net.  Prepared in this way, the tree covered more than 2,500 kilometres, escorted by pilots in specially marked vehicles and, in some sections, with the cooperation of the police, motorway staff and other specialists from Germany, Austria and Italy. Of course, it was also necessary to plan the route in detail, taking into account, among other things, restrictions in the form of narrow local roads, roundabouts, bridges, viaducts, roadworks, available parking. Naturally, the non-normative set with the Christmas tree aroused great interest and every day, during the stops, numerous people wrote their names in the souvenir book, later handed over to Pope Francis. After 13 days of travel, the Christmas tree was able to stand proudly in St Peter’s Square, only for the tree to be lit up at the official lighting ceremony on 7 December and to adorn the heart of the Vatican throughout the Christmas season.

Transporting a Christmas tree, a powerful yet easily damaged load, was quite a challenge. We are therefore delighted that we were entrusted with this task and that our work on its realisation was recognised at the ESTA Awards of Excellence.

At Ol-Trans, we often say that nothing is impossible for us. The award, often referred to as the ‘transport Oscar’, is the best confirmation of this.

On 17-19 May, the Breakbulk Trade Fair returns after a two-year break due to the pandemic, and we are pleased to take part. The Breakbulk Fair, which this year takes place in Rotterdam, is the largest event in the over-normative transport industry in Europe. Each year, it hosts the leading TSL companies specialising in the transport of oversize and special loads by road and sea. That is why our company Ol-Trans, which specialises in oversize transport, crane services, general transport and forwarding services, could not miss out on this event. You will find our stand in Hall 2, Stand 2L51.

The event, at which we will have the opportunity to present ourselves for the second time, is also a series of workshops and lectures, which provide an excellent opportunity to exchange experiences, learn about the latest trends and gain a broader perspective on the needs and challenges present in the TSL industry. This allows us to continue to develop and improve our services in order to best meet our customers’ expectations and maintain a high level of competitiveness in the transport services market.

In addition to exhibitors, Breakbulk is visited by several thousand business customers from all over the world, including port and terminal representatives, sea carriers, freight forwarders and representatives of transport companies. Therefore, for Ol-Trans, it is an excellent opportunity to establish new contacts with contractors and business partners. We believe that face-to-face meetings with customers and business partners are the basis for building good business relationships, so we are delighted to once again take part in the Breakbulk Fair.
